Керуючі або Процесорні модулі (Routing Engine, Supervisor) Cisco використовуються в маршрутизаторах або модульних комутаторах для керування всією системою та збільшення продуктивності. Процесорні модулі випускаються під певну серію маршрутизаторів або модульних комутаторів і шасі, або можуть поєднуватися з різними платформами одночасно (напр. Catalyst 6500 Series і Cisco 7600 routers).
Залежно від платформи, модулі управління Cisco можуть підтримувати різні служби та сервіси, наприклад якість обслуговування (QoS), мережеве управління, функції безпеки, динамічну і статичну маршрутизацію, комутацію на різних рівнях модулі OSI і багато іншого.
